<p>Al-Shahba is a Syrian factory producing lightbulbs. I have no information on when this box was designed nor if the factory was still running when I discovered the box lying on a street in Damascus. The clear and simple graphic design hints toward the style of state-run factories and their connection to more or less socialist principles - similarities with GDR "Gebrauchsgrafik" ("use graphics") are striking. </p>
